G at G (Girls' Night Out at G Hotel)

I have mentioned many times in this blog that I don't have plenty of friends, especially at work. I may sound like a bitter anti-social but that has been a personal choice I intend to keep. I know life would be happier having countless friends. However, I have always been a firm believer of having a few but real and trusted friends. Friendship for the sake of popularity and personal advantage is not just me. Never in my life would I join the bandwagon of those friends with benefits :)

Whenever a day at work seems to turn out as a huge mess, my usual depression outlet are my small lifeline of friends. An emotional outburst over good food or a cup of coffee is oftentimes my stress busting therapy. Unfortunately, the few friends who have been with me were gradually taken away. One of them went ahead to heaven and some chose to transfer to a better workplace. Despite being separated by time and distance, a few of them made me feel that they still value our friendship. My few real friends exhaust means to meet up and revive those feel good dinners again.

One of my counted workplace friends told me to be ready for a possible meet up. Through as series of text and Yahoo Messenger messages, my generous friend C treated us for dinner at G Hotel.

It was my first time to try G Hotel. Situated along the stretch of Roxas Boulevard, G Hotel is managed by the group of Waterfront Hotels and Casino. It's less than a 10-floor establishment that exists amidst the towering presence of Diamond, Bayview and all the other hotels in the area.

Aside from quality service and facilities, I believe that the theme and interiors perform a significant role to the image projected by any hotel. Manila Hotel for instance concentrates on Filipiniana, while Sofitel Philippine Plaza projects a resort like ambiance. In the case of G Hotel, I can observe a modern and minimalist elegance. Here are some pictures that reflect the fusion of minimalism and elegance of G Hotel.

The "receptionist less" reception area LOL We were surprised to see the area vacant. Though to compensate, a man from the concierge was kind enough to lead us to the restaurant.

This is a proof that black and white is very capable of reflecting elegance.

Although at some point, the reception area provides me a feel that I'm in a beauty salon.

My friends enjoying the lounge.

We were booked for dinner at Cafe Noir.

I fell in love with the consistent black and white look of the dining place.

We were lucky because we were the only customers of Cafe Noir. We were served well and it felt like we reserved the entire restaurant.

Everything seems perfect except for these wooden chairs that seem to be a misfit of the theme.

Here some of the local dishes we had for dinner.

Crispy Pata (Fried Pork Legs) is a sinful yet a well loved Filipino delicacy. The pork legs are seasoned with spices and later deep fried.

Kare Kare, another famous Filipino dish made from peanut sauce, variety of vegetables and beef. It is usually served with shrimp paste

Here's a shot of my stomach happy friends :)

Overall, I love our short dining experience at G Hotel. I wanted to try their their accommodation facilities in the future. Some of my friends showed interest in having an overnight stay at the end of year. Hopefully, our budget and schedule will permit us.

  1. Y'all are such a cute group! Girlfriends are the *best* :D I am so happy that y'all enjoyed your dinner at the G. I like he black and white, especially in the restaurant.

  2. This looks like a wonderful place & so much fun to enjoy it with your dear friends. There is an American saying that "if you can count your very true friends on one hand, you are a lucky person." I feel the same way you do about friendship. I think we are lucky people to have just a few very "good" friends!

Thank you for the nice comment on my recent Spain vacay. It was truly a wonderful time, but it is so very good to be home!

Adios mi dulce amiga (Goodbye my sweet friend),

  3. It looks like you're having such a great time with your good friends, they're the best. I agree, it does look a bit like a salon, but very clean and elegant. I think I need to get myself some breakfast now after looking at the yummy food pictures.
Thanks for visiting and commenting about my cameras. My son came over the other day and asked if I was selling them. He's a pretty good photographer and wants them for his collection. Well, I want them for mine too:-)

  4. Looks like fun D!! Glad you were able to hang out with friends and what a swanky hotel!

  5. Hi Diane! Looked like you had a lot of fun. :)

We share the same views about friendship. Good friends are hard to find, and to have a best friend in particular is a great fortune. :)

  6. Diane, your photos of the hotel are beautiful!

  7. Love this! I'm so glad you decided to join us and share at 'Weekly Top Shot.' :-) I hope you'll come share again next week...

Thank you for visiting my blog. Your comments make me happy. :)
