Fun Family Activities for Everyone

Family time doesn’t have always to mean spending on dates, picnics and travel. You can still spend some quality family time together without having to spend a lot of money.

There are several fun activities that everyone can participate in to strengthen your bonds and grow you closer as a family. For instance, you can exercise together as a family. Exercise is important in boosting immunity and reducing the risk of developing certain lifestyle diseases and keeping everyone in the family fit. You just have to invest in the appropriate workout clothes and you are good to go.

Here are fun activities to bring your family together.

Household chores

There are three things which are certain in life: death, taxes and household chores. Household chores don’t have to be boring with everyone grumbling. Instead of having one person doing some chores while the rest are either watching TV or on their phones, let everyone join to help.

Depending on your family size and the age of your children, you can allocate everyone a chore to do and put some music in the background to keep people motivated. You can take advantage of that to have a great singalong moment as a family.

Have someone do the dishes as the others mop the floors and put dirty laundry into the washer. This is also a good time to check the garbage disposal (Visit Website) that has been making funny sounds the entire week.

The advantage of teamwork is that you will quite a lot done in a short period of time allowing you to engage in other activities.

Visit a charity

Visiting a charity is a fun family activity to get the children out of the house and teach them some important life skills like the art of giving while at it.

Inform them beforehand and ask if they have any items they would like to donate. These could be the toys and clothes they have outgrown or even money they have saved from their allowance.

You can volunteer to clean your neighborhood streets as a way of teaching them about environmental awareness.

Netflix and chill

If the weather isn’t favorable for outdoor activities, renew your Netflix subscription and sit down for that movie or series that everyone but which you haven’t had time to watch.
Just make sure you have enough food and popcorns to last you through all the episodes you want to watch.

Art and craft

Explore the creative talents of your family by having art and craft during your family time. Have a dance off, learn how to craft items like jewelry and ornaments by hand, or even how to play musical instruments.

You can also use this opportunity to nurture everyone’s communication and public speaking skills by having a storytelling session.

Puzzles and games

Puzzles require mental engagement and can improve everyone’s cognitive abilities. Games such as chess, monopoly and scrabble require strategy, grammar, language and money skills, and are good way to improve your vocabulary, arithmetic ability, and logical and critical thinking.

  1. I love old fashioned games. The real ones, not the ones on the computer or on a mobile phone. I would also like my family to come and do chores at my home, sounds like my cup of tea ;-)
