Puerto Galera
This is a follow up post from our recent trip at Puerto Galera. As promised, I will write about the all time favorite past time of the female populace, SHOPPING!

Aside from the beach and the night life, the White Beach of Puerto Galera is likewise known for the different souvenir shops.

The most common souvenir you can take home from the Puerto Galera are these.

T-shirts cost around Php 90 to 100 (around $2.25)  for small to medium sizes.

Sarongs are a common find too. This tube length fabric is very useful at the beach.  Sarong can be used as a body cover and serves as a beach mat too.  I bought my own sarong too for only Php 120 (around $3). It's cheaper than those sold in SM and other department stores in Manila.

Local slippers and sandals made from abaca.

And in case you forgot your swimsuits, a lot of shops are selling these..

Swimsuits are not that expensive too. You can purchase a piece for as low as Php 500 ($12).

For those who love accessories, these pictures are for you.

Colorful yarn bracelets and anklets are the cheapest souvenirs you can purchase. Each yarn bracelet costs Php10 ($0.25).

Yarn Anklets costs Php 10 per bundle

Earrings and bracelets made of plastic, wood and shells.

Here's what I bought for myself.

These handbags are made from the fibers of Abaca plant. If I am not mistaken, only the Philippines and Ecuador have natural Abaca plants. These bags are handcrafted per piece. Each fiber of the abaca leaf are extracted, converted to threads and are weaved to form these bag pieces.

Mini Abaca bags
Cute Abaca bags that can be used as coin purses.

Coin purses made of different materials

Nope they are not your regular knapsacks. They are mini knapsacks made of canvas and can be used as a coin purse or a case for your small gadgets.

My trip to Puerto Galera would not have been possible without the help of my two beautiful girlfriends.

Thank you my dear friends!

Thank you my dear friends!
Day 1 of our Puerto Galera tour was mostly spent at Puerto Nirvana, the private resort that housed us for three days.

Day 2 marked the highlight of our vacation because we were able to tour the famous "White Beach" of Puerto Galera. The White Beach is the premiere tourist destination in Puerto Galera, obviously because of the fine and white sand. Aside from the beach, the bars, restaurants, parties and all those happenings are found at the White Beach.

The White Beach is no doubt a piece of heaven's nature on earth. But if I were to choose, the atmosphere at the White Beach is not my ideal vacation spot. Call me anti-social but vacation for me means serenity and enjoying quiet moments with my family, friends and all the special people in my life. This is the main reason why I am not a big fan of congested beaches. I am already exhausted with the noise and the population in the city. So if I were to splurge for a vacation, I wanted it to be housed in a quiet, relaxing and refreshing place.

But I wanted to be fair enough so I am also sharing beautiful pictures I have captured from the White Beach.

One of my colleagues told us that the number of people visiting the White Beach doubles during the Holy Week.

The part of the White Beach that I loved the most...

Wet underarms ahahaha

And how could I not love this

Sunset marks the start of the real life at the White Beach

This is it for Day 2 at the White Beach. On my next entry, I will write and post pictures of what I have shopped at the White Beach. You read it right, the White Beach is a shopping destination too.

PS  If you are following my blog, you might have read of my silent wish. Let us just say that my trip to Puerto Galera somehow shed a small light to the fulfillment of my silent wish. You see, I would hold on even to that the tiniest drop of light. I just hope that I have not misinterpreted the signs. Nevertheless, I am always willing to wait. For how long? Only God knows and only time could tell...

I am back in the city after three days of hibernating in the beautiful island of Puerto Galera. I am back, fatter and darker. Blame everything on the sun and great food.

For those who are not familiar, Puerto Galera is part of the island of Oriental Mindoro. As I have mentioned in my previous post, the Philippines is an archipelago. My country is comprised of  7,107 unique and beautiful islands. Puerto Galera is one the well known tourist and summer destinations here. The place is surrounded by the lush mountains and beautiful beaches.

My workplace is responsible for bringing me to Puerto Galera. I work in an institution where we are given the opportunity to have summer outing once a year. This is off from work and fun time with my workplace friends.

A bus ride to the Port of Batangas and a ferry ride to Calapan Mindoro will take you to the island of Puerto Galera. The trip is quite exhausting but the experience in the island was all worth it.

The challenge and thrill of riding this boat is feeling the frightening waves of the sea. But with God's grace, we were able to arrive at Puerto Galera safe, happy and excited!

Our first stop was Puerto Nirvana, the resort which housed us for three days.

Main Entrance of  Puerto Nirvana

The Infinity Pool is one of my favorite spots at Puerto Nirvana.

The owner of the resort even allowed us to view his private place.

Aside from the fact that he already has a breathtaking place by the beach, the selection of furniture made the owner's place cozy and homey.

The rattan pieces for me are best for rest houses.

Dining Area

The terrace that overlooks the beach is the best part of the owner's place

I love this wooden bed in the terrace. This part of the terrace perfectly defines relaxation and vacation. Lying in bed and enjoying the view of the sea is priceless.

I fell in love with these tables

If I am not mistaken, this table is made of wood and dead sea corals. If you are familiar with mangroves, (trees that grow and are submerged in saline waters) this table was made from the trunk of a tree where corals have grown.

Glass topped side table with shells, corals and other natural elements from the sea.
I have always dreamed of owning this kind of study or working table.

And now... the main attraction of the resort

For me, the beach is best experienced during this time.

The scorching heat of the sun is gone and what you can feel is the sound of the breeze and waves of the sea.

This is just day one of our three day stay at Puerto Galera. I will be sharing the other places we have visited on my next posts. For now, I need to rest and sleep because it's back to work tomorrow.
