This is one of the biggest surprises that Ilocos gave me. When in Ilocos, don't ever skip the sand dunes adventure. Riding a 4x4 vehicle on the steep terrains is one of the extreme adventures I made in my lifetime.

I was already familiar with the sand dunes and sand boarding activities in Ilocos. What I didn't know was the off road adventure. Riding a 4x4 vehicle while braving the unpredictable terrains was one for the books. I was screaming while keeping my balance and grip on the huge bars of the 4x4 truck. My heart would skip a beat every time the truck slides down an almost, 90-degree terrain. Take note, we were standing during the entire ride. I was nervous and exhilarated at the same time. I can't wait for the entire adventure to finish but at the same time, I was enjoying the view of the unexpected desert experience. If this area of Ilocos would be considered as a real desert, I could say that this was my first time to see one.

The ride was already an attraction for me. But when we reached the farthest end  of the desert, we were treated to another priceless experience. I once again saw what seems to be an endless horizon of the sea.

We had the sand dunes adventure late afternoon. It was probably around 4 pm, which for me is the best time to experience. Morning or afternoon may cause painful sunburns. Late afternoon is perfect because exposure to UV rays is lesser (I believe), added to this the perfect view of the sunset.

I don't consider myself as the most adventurous traveler. You can count on me to deal with endless walking. I don't take those challenging rides in Star City or Enchanted Kingdom. I once tried Space Shuttle and Anchor's Away and vowed to never repeat the experience. If you have surpassed the two theme park rides, you can surely handle the 4x4 adventure. :) Trust me, this is way easier to survive. Just be ready with some healing balm, salonpas or liniment oil after a day. :p

The destination happens to be a cave, but my photos relate otherwise. Haha The Bantay Abot Cave is literally a mountain with a hole. It is said that different natural occurrences caused the creation of the unusual hole. So don't expect a real deep cave. :) The dominant view in the area are rock formations and what seems to be an endless horizon of the sea.

The entire place looks so serene and relaxing. In reality, it is quite challenging to capture great photos. The shore is filled with sharp fragments of rock formations. The limited pathways are steep. The waves of the sea are too powerful. In effect, expect strong winds everywhere. I remember climbing a steep elevated area to secure some photos. I had a hard time going down, so my steps were slow and careful. Unfortunately, some group of "younger" kids became too demanding. They were shouting, asking me to walk faster because I will appear as a distraction for their photos. Kids, when you reach my tita age... I hope you will not get overweight and lousy. Hahaha You will understand my struggles.

We only had a few minutes to explore Bantay Abot Cave. Despite the short visit, I can say that Bantay Abot Cave is one of the best places I've seen. It's no doubt, one for the books!

Last Beautiful Sunday post landed on Christmas day. I failed to foresee that next week's post would fall on the first day of 2017. This post has been prepared way ahead of time. :) Saturday is New Year's Eve and the first day of the year will be spent with my relatives. I decided to look back and compile photos and memories from last year's Sunday posts.

One of my favorite intersections in my hometown. I remember this photo was taken days before New Year's Eve for 2016. We ate in a nearby restaurant and thought I was having a great time. A few hours after, I had severe case of stomache. I lost my appetite days before New Year's eve. How timely! Haha But I was determined, I still overate during New Year's Eve.

I love this art gallery and shop in my hometown. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to visit it again.

These reminds me, one of my wish for 2017 is to acquire a new camera

The unplanned trip to Silahis Center. Check out the post here.

One of the best books I've read in 2016. Check out my review here. I miss my own copy of this book. :( I think I have to purchase another copy.

One of my favorite postcards, thanks Marieken!

I'm too late to realize the power of pure honey! It saved me from sore throat, colds, cough and other unnecessary sicknesses.

Found my best skincare regimen. I love the combination of these products on my skin.

Postcard from Terra and one of my favorite K dramas aside from DOTS, Yong Pal is love!!! I watched it because of Kim Tae Hee, but I got more connected with the leading man, Joo Won!!!! The lavender was not just intended for decorative purposes. It was a significant part of the series.
