I was waiting for the train's arrival when I saw this bag from a fellow female passenger. It was a satchel made from a cloth with pretty floral prints. But what makes the bag different was its plastic like coating. The tag of the bag reads, Cath Kidston. I know the brand now so I have a lead. This will be my mission this morning.

I googled Cath Kidston and I was directed in this site.

And I was brought to a haven of floral prettiness...

I thought that Cath Kidston was all about bags. Upon reaching the site, I learned that they sell almost everything. They have accessories, clothing, fabrics, and even stuff for kids.

But since my concern are the bags, I explored the site and found these beautiful pieces

My ultimate Cath Kidston dream bag!

Cath Kidston All Day Bag

All Day Bag in Light Floral Blue

Cath Kidston Satchel
Drool.....

My favorite color is blue and I am not a big fan of color pink. So I see girly pieces with a touch of blue as a piece of heaven.

If you would take a closer look of their bags, you can somehow see a plastic like coating. Upon interenet research, I learned that the bags were coated with "oil cloth." Not all people may share the same interest with me over these oil coated bags. For some, it may look awkward. But what I appreciate about the oil clothing is the protection it gives to the bag. The oil coat makes the bag like water proof and less prone to all those dust and dirt.

Aside from, the bags, I found these lovely stuff too..

I'm happy to discover Cath Kidston. But the sad and disappointng reality is... it's impossible for me to own at least one of them.

Cath Kidston only sells in UK, USA and Japan. They sell online but I'm very reluctant to try it. I never tried to buy anything online through credit cards. I've heard a lot of horror and traumatic stories from my friends who once tried online purchases. Hidden charges and identity theft, you know. Though I am really tempted to try.

I read in the Female Network Forum that the ever luxurious Rustans Department Store sells some Cath Kidston products, but no bags. Accessory Lab at Rockwell sells a few bag pieces according to some sources. But as expected it is just so expensive! A piece solds an average of Php 4,000 (around $100). No way!

If anyone here is interested in helping me acquire any of the bag pieces I have posted, I would really appreciate it. If I have friends, followers, fellow bloggers or relatives from US, Japan or London, reading this, I would be happy for any form of assistance too. Better yet, if the management of Cath Kidston could hear me, I am open for freebies or even discounts.. (wishful thinking!)

For now, I am left dreaming and drooling...

Do you love watching movies? I hope you also do. I am a self-confessed movie fan. I love both local and foreign movies. I love to watch movies with my girlfriends, Anne and Anna, most of the time. Nothing beats the tandem of a good movie and great friends. I have a lot of movie memories with them. If I remember it right, the first movie that we all watched was Vin Diesel's, The Pacifier. We had no plans of watching the movie. We were just so tired and bored of strolling and window shopping. Back then, we were just starting to earn our own money after college. Time just flies so fast.... I feel so old now.

From Left: Anne, Anna and me

Anna and I had our own movie bonding moments. I will never forget that afternoon when we bravely watched The Sixth Sense and Urban Legend (Final Cut). I got bored watching most parts of The Sixth Sense. But when the movie ending came, we got so scared to the extent that we couldn't scream. It was a hair-raising ending. Our experience with Urban Legend's Final Cut was different. The scene on how one of the characters was killed remained in our heads for days. That's how we can be easily frightened those days and even now that we are already a bunch of grown ups.

Among the three of us, it was really Anne who regularly watches movies. She was my greatest influence for malling and movies.(Please don't get mad Anne, I'm just telling the truth. Hehehehe) She converted me from a home bum movie fan to a mall addict! So Anne, you are the one to blame for who I am right now. ;-)

But there are instances when I just want to watch movies within the comforts of my own room. You see, I am a home buddy. After a stressful week or during a holiday break, one of the activities I never fail to skip is a solo movie marathon. I can last for straight eight hours in bed with good movies. Of course, minus the meal and pee breaks ;-). I swear!

I used to rent DVDs and VCDs. But when I started earning, I gradually splurged on some copies of my all time favorite movies. It is my dream to actually own a library of my favorite movies and a small theatre at home. Large screen, lazy boy chairs, ....thank God dreaming is still free.

Just to share with you, here are some of my humbled and hard earned movie collections

Anyone who can recognize?

The box contains my collection of Jet Li's films. I am a die hard fan of Jet Li. I love him and his movies. Obviously, He is my ultimate crush! Unfortunately, this collection is not yet complete. Anyone out there generous enough to help me complete my collection? Just refer to the picture and you know what to give me. Hehehehe

Some of my other cheap yet hard earned collections

Oftentimes, I don't like the entire compilation sold in DVD bundle packs. But this was a treat for me because I both love The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses. Aside from the shoes, bags and clothes, I admire how Andreaaaaaah redeemed herself from the tyrant boss, Miranda. I'm sure a lot of rank and file employees aka slaves like me can relate to Andrea. It's a must see film for all of you female, rank and file employees out there!

27 Dresses did not sell in Philippine cinemas. I initially thought it was just a typical romantic comedy film. It was indeed an ordinary film, but for some reasons, I just love it! I can relate well to the community of the hopeless romantics. (And I just started to get so cheesy!)

Pretty Woman

This is my all time favorite movie of Julia Roberts. I love romantic films but I don't usually prefer those with heavy drama. I prefer films with the right combination of humor and drama. If I am not mistaken, Pretty Woman was released in 1990, at the time when my age is not yet interested and suited for this film. I first watched this film from a rented VCD when I was 18 years old. It was only at that age when I started to get interested over love romantic films. Yes, I was such a late bloomer (was that the right term?). Blame it on my father and my family who was so engrossed over action and suspense thrilling films. My interest before was more on those hard action and sci-fi films.  Movie for them was all about guns, ammunitions, fight scenes, and actors in black leather jackets.

Though as I aged and gained girlfriends, my prolonged exposure on heavy action films did not vanish. I still watch and love a few action films and one of them are these

Fast and Furious DVD Collections

I was able to complete the series of Fast and Furious films. Yehey! I think this was the only film series where I have a complete DVD collection. The series will remain special to me because this was the only action film which me and my father both loved.

And of course, the Kid at Heart in me will never cease..

I love E.T. and The Little Rascals and I will never get tired of watching these films. When I first saw them at Odyssey, I had no second thoughts. I grabbed and paid them without looking at their prices. They form my once in a lifetime priceless childhood memories. I seldom had the opportunity to watch kiddle films at the theaters because my mom was very strict with family expenses. I was able to watch these films through a relative, who I envied, because they own a VHS player!!!!! (And I just made myself again feel so old.) During that time (which I will not reveal), I was stuck with my auntie's betamax player!!!!  You just don't know how I felt so little just because we don't own a VHS player that time. I was such a sore loser. hahahaha!

When I decided to write this post, my original plan was simply to share my all time favorite movies. Little did I know, I would be able to relinquish some happy and bitter sweet memories. This is not anymore the story of myself as a movie fan. This is about me and my weird, wonderful and crazy life.

I hope I was able to make you crazy and happy! :)

Dear Merciful Father,

In you alone we find strength. Whatever the reasons why these happened, its only you who can answer. My plea is to grant our brothers and sisters in Japan enough courage and strength to surpass this tragedy. Please spare the Philippines and the rest of the threatened countries from another earthquake and all those natural disasters.

You alone can save all of us.

Hear us Lord.

A Silent Prayer

Dear Merciful Father,

In you alone we find strength. Whatever the reasons why these happened, its only you who can answer. My plea is to grant our brothers and sisters in Japan enough courage and strength to surpass this tragedy. Please spare the Philippines and the rest of the threatened countries from another earthquake and all those natural disasters.

You alone can save all of us.

Hear us Lord.
I recently blogged about my two day spiritual break at Caleruega. The place is just so peaceful and relaxing.

Aside from savoring God's gift of nature, I also enjoyed the company of my few workplace friends and some of the activities we experienced. Please allow me to share to you some of them.

This film was shown to us in one of our sessions. Everyone almost went speechless after watching the film. Seflessness, giving up the only reason that makes you happy, in exchange for saving the lives of those strangers, is no doubt a supreme sacrifice.

I am not a fan of Steven Curtis Chapman. But this song made me admire him. We all have our own perceptions of heaven. Little do we know,  heaven can be experienced on those little things on earth. They just wait for us to realize and appreciate them.

We also did this activity.

I hope you can see the green tangled yarn. I can't recall the exact name of this activity. For now, allow me to call it the Friendship Web. This exercise is perfect for retreats and even team-building activities.

So how does the Friendship Web works?

A group of around 10 members forms a circle and is given a ball of string. The activity starts when the ball of string is given by the facilitator to one member. The first member should tie the string to his index finger and pass it to another member. However, the passing of the string is accompanied by a task. Words of appreciation should be uttered to the member who receives string. The procedure is repeated until the entire ball of string is used up.

I love activities like this because it provides an opportunity for everyone to feel appreciated. It gives those rare chance of feeling great and special.

Speaking of great people around me, I would like to share some of my pictures with my few workplace friends. They are the few people who made my work life lighter and happier

I forgot to thank God for giving these people to me. I literally grew up from being an innocent fresh-college-graduate employee to a big and overweight girl in the workplace. :D

Wishing everyone a great day ahead! :)

Together with some of my colleagues, I joined the University of Santo Tomas (UST)  in their attempt of achieving the Guinness Book of World Records' Largest Human Cross.

For the benefit of my international readers, the UST is the oldest educational institution in the Philippines. It was founded in 1611, when the Philippines was still colonized by the Spanish Government. The University is celebrating their 400 years of existence and this activity serves as one of the highlights of their founding anniversary.

The largest human cross in the Guinness Book of Records is currently owned by Norway. If my research is correct, a total of 935 participants joined this endeavor.

Photo from: Our World. Your Move blog

Today, the UST attempted to beat the record of the largest human cross. I was not part of the crowd who made the human cross. I was one of those assigned to provide a manual count and record of at least 50 people who will enter the UST's Open Field.

This was the product of all the endless preparations made by the school and approximately 24,560 college students.

Congratulations UST!

But before UST, I am proud to say that my own alma mater started this Guiness attempt for schools in the Philippines. In the first centennial of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) - Manila, students, employees and alumni gathered at the Qurino Grandstand to form the world's largest human rainbow.

Photo was obtained here

A total of 30,365 particpants formed this Guinness Record for the largest Human Rainbow last September 18, 2004. As of today, PUP still holds the record. You can verify it at the Guinness Book of Records here.

But regardless of whoever school marked the record, the important thing is that the credit goes to my country, the Philippines.

I hope the pictures could reveal the real beauty of the place of my spiritual break. This is it, I had a two-day break with my friends and colleagues.

We went to this beautiful place

The trees in the pathway are adorned by Capiz lamps. During night time, the Capiz lamps perform two purpose, lighting and decorative pieces.

The pathway already gives you a wonderful journey.

The Transfiguration Chapel of Caleruega!

The Transfiguration Chapel in Caleruega is one of my favorite places in the world.

Caleruega is situated at Batulao Nasugbu, Batangas. Batangas is a province that is not too far from the city. Hence, going to Caleruega does not require long hours of travel and exhaustion. The place is around two hours away from Manila.

Aside from the chapel, here are other reasons why you should visit Caleruega

There is nothing like this in the city.

How do you want to have breakfast here? The spacious land is also ideal for group or team building activities.

The bridges in the man made pond leads to another bridge. But this time, it's a classic hanging bridge.

The hanging bridge leads to this

A spacious field that houses this serene chapel

Before we left, I uttered my silent prayer...

It remains a silent prayer my friends. If it is not too much to ask, please continuously pray with me.

Closer to Nature... Closer to God
