K Drama Review : Birth of a Beauty

I remember encountering Birth of a Beauty several years ago. I chanced an afternoon episode during my vacation leave. But I guess, I was occupied with another K drama. Hence, I totally forgot about it.
I woke up on a cold and rainy Saturday morning. The rain drops and cold breeze felt so relaxing. It  was the perfect way to end the work week and start another weekend.  The past week went like a blur. Work was lighter, although I lost control over my teaching related tasks. I overlooked the examinations schedule. :p Good thing, I was able to fix everything the last minute. Over the past weeks, I've been relating the state of my freelance works. My heart is full because clients have been sending me good news. The late night to early morning work were all worth it.

While the past week was relatively lighter, tiredness still haunted me. Just like last week, I was in bed the entire day while finishing a K drama that awakened my cheesy romantic hormones. :p I thought I can wait for the daily reruns from a local channel. In the end, I had  a marathon of the last few episodes of Birth of a Beauty. Gaaaaahd! I can't remember the last time I felt this much kilig over a K drama. :p  I'm not just sure if having a dose of this shallowness is healthy for me. :)

Meanwhile, here's the past week in photos.

Beautiful Sunday # 302 - Last for January

My desk at home and the sight of my books

I started writing this post on the wee hours of Saturday. I was wide awake. Blame the strong kick of iced coffee I had a few hours ago. It was Friday night, I have classes until 9 pm. On the way home, I rewarded myself. I bought a slice of cake and a cup of iced mocha. The drink was too powerful, I think I can stay awake until 4 am. If I knew this would happen, I should have bought a tall cup each day last week. I badly needed it for the series of freelance works and a surprise task from my day job. All the work caused me to leave the workplace place late, catch the last trip of the train, settle for cup noodles for quick dinner and slave myself in front of my laptop until 2 am. I ruined myself last week. My saving grace is the Php 50 face mask from Mercury Drug and watching the local reruns of Birth of a Beauty. Gaaaahd!!! This K drama is driving me crazy. While I can easily google the ending or watch it online, I prefer to catch the late night reruns. It gives me something to look forward after a long day. If you like K dramas with an unexpected romantic twist, this might work for you. The lead actor, Joo Sang-wook, is too irresistible. He's not the handsomest, but his character is someone every hopeless romantic old woman like me would love. :D

After everything that happened last week, I was hoping to bounce back on weekends. Take some exercise, indulge for a Swedish massage at Nuat Thai, have a hair spa and replenish my toiletries. But laziness made other plans. I slept the entire day yesterday. I attempted to do it today, but I ended staying at home doing nothing. I wore pajamas the entire day, wrapped myself in my favorite blanket, browse my social media accounts, online window shopping and had crispy thin crust pizza with my family for dinner. I may not be productive, but I enjoyed my relaxing weekend. No deadlines, urgent emails and alarms forcing me to get up.

I'm savoring the last few hours of this weekend. These pictures will remind me that I once survived another hell week.

The sight of my books is more than enough to relax me. I'm on the stage in my life when books make my shopaholic attacks.

If there's one thing I love over the past week, it's the rare chilly weather in Manila. I love the week long sunrise, coupled with a cold breeze. Same goes whenever I leave work, I love the feel of the wind on my face. I wonder how long this weather will last. Soon enough, everything will be over when February enters. A few more months, it will be the hottest summer again. :(

Other than worrying about the weather, my pressing concern centers on my freelance work. Thinking about it now, I feel disorganized and worried. I'm tied up with deadlines this week. The week after, I'm not even sure if all the work will be over.  I need to clear my mind, preserve all my energy, patience and the best time management skills. Oh and I have to add, some people skills as well. :)

On the good side, here are some beautiful things that happened last week in photos.

Happy Mail - Pardon the services of our local post office, I'm just starting to receive Christmas cards and other mails this week. Thank you Terra for the cards. :)

Hello everyone! This is my first Sunday post for 2018. I'm feeling positive because the past week gave me a good start. Much of it were attributed to the accomplished freelance works. I still have works lined up and I'm more than thankful for these rare opportunities. Added to this, it's been another year of keeping our new year family tradition. My cousins in Marikina gathered together for new year's lunch. I'm also happy that I managed to finish a book and blog about it. Strange Weather in Tokyo is in my list of best reads!!! After browsing my 2017 posts, I learned that I never made any book review. This happened even when I purchased a lot of books last year. Admittedly, much of it remain unread. This is something I wish to improve this year. I want to finish and blog more books, apart from taking nice photos. :p

I can't recall when and how it started, but I have an intensifying interest over Japanese literary pieces. In particular, I'm drawn to the segment of light, easy and contemporary reads. While shopping for Christmas presents at Fully Booked last year, I thought of buying something for myself. I didn't find anything interesting at the small branch in Gateway Mall. I was about to leave when I saw the lone copy of Strange Weather in Tokyo. And just because it's Japanese, my impulsiveness hormones worked.
