Kate Spade, Shop Spring and Shipping Cart (the third time around!) : A Shopping and Shipping Review

While we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the Philippines, I look forward to this holiday because of the Black Friday Sale. :p Years ago, I only hear Black Friday Sale from friends and relatives residing in US. When I started to learn about online shopping and cargo forwarding services, my life changed. ;) I get to experience a little something from this most awaited sale.

Kate Spade has been my usual destination during the Black Friday Sale. The bag selections are tried and tested, for the win during their grandest sale. Unfortunately this year, Kate Spade online did not allow my locally issued credit card to shop. Years ago, their system allowed me to use a Philippine issued credit card, use my Ph based address for billing and my cargo forwarder's US address for shipping. I guess they changed their system. I thought I will not be able to buy anything. I searched other US based shops offering Kate Spade products. Good thing, I landed on Shop Spring. Though the discount is bigger on Kate Spade's own website, Shop Spring still provided considerable discounts.

So those who experienced the same problem with Kate Spade, I hope Shop Spring can work as an alternative. I ordered two bags (for me and my cousin) from Shop Spring last November 23. My orders arrived at Shipping Cart's warehouse last November 29. Four working days is not bad for free shipping, especially during the peak of the Black Friday Sale. I summarized the timeline of my shopping experience from Shop Spring and shipping duration from Shipping Cart below.

Delivery Timeline

November 23, 2018 - I made my order at Shop Spring.com

November 24, 2018 - order was shipped to Shipping Cart's US address

November 29, 2018  at 8:42 am - Spring.com confirmed the delivery of my order to Shipping Cart's US address

November 29, 2018 at 11: 35 am  - Shipping Cart confirmed the delivery of my package to their warehouse

November 30, 2018 at 6:22 am - Package was processed and ready for shipping

December 3, 2018 at 1:20 am - Package left their warehouse

December 12, 2018 - Package arrived

Shipping Duration from Shop Spring.com to Shipping Cart's warehouse = 4 working days
Shipping Cart's shipping duration from US to Philippines = 9 working days

Given the peak of holiday deliveries, 9 working days is not bad from USA to Philippines.

As for the cost, I paid around Php 2,800 for a box that measures 14.5 x 14.5 x 6.5 inches, weighing 6.8 lbs. The total value of the bags I ordered was less than Php 10,000. In effect, Shipping Cart did not anymore charge me additional fees for insurance. It might be a different case when the items shipped have a greater value.

I hope Shipping Cart's services will never change. Years ago, the first review I wrote for Shipping Cart gained negative feedback from dissatisfied customers. While I acknowledge their sentiments, I was hoping people will be mature enough to realize that attacking my post will not address their complaints.

  1. Wow, that is fast service. You know I bought a Cath Kidston purse after you wrote about her. Now I should check Kate Spade. Happy 2019.

    1. Hi LiLi! Yes, it works better that way for multiple orders from USA. Sometimes it also appears cheaper for items that will already be subject for import tax :)

  3. Do you have to pay any tax when the package arrived in the PH?

    1. Hi Erise! I'm not sure if this is what you meant. You wish to use Shipping Cart in bulk quantity of one or similar product. Tama ba? I'm not sure, but as far as I can remember, they have a policy. You can ship multiple quantities of one item, with a limit. I think 10 pcs. (not really sure) of the same item. They implement this because Shipping Cart is devoted for personal use, not really for business or selling. :)
